A. The artist has not described the meaning, the church who erected it says this: "Jesus Wept" Shrine: Behind the Old Cathedral stands a shrine in remembrance of the April 19, 1995, Bombing of the Federal Building in Okalahoma City. The focal point of the Shrine is a statue of Jesus Who faces away from the tragic sight; He holds His face in His hands in sorrow. The rectory was damaged so severely that it was razed. Erected in its place is the " and Jesus wept" shrine located on the northeast corner of the complex. This person says: Across the side street still stands a Catholic Church. Its rectory was destroyed by the blast. The Church decided to place a memorial where the rectory stood. There is a picture attached. A… [cont.]

A. The setting was the death of Jesus' friend, Lazarus. His weeping shows that, even though he was perfect, and had the power from his Father, Jehovah, to raise his friend from the dead, he had emotions, just like we do. (John 11:30-44) 30 Jesus had not yet, in fact, come into the village, but he was still in the place where Martha met him. 31 Therefore the Jews that were with her in the house and that were consoling her, on seeing Mary rise quickly and go out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the memorial tomb to weep there. 32 And so Mary, when she arrived where Jesus was and caught sight of him, fell at his feet, saying to him: Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 33 Jesus, therefore, when he saw her… [cont.]

Is Genesis the kitchen key given from heavenly saints to terrestrial women; Jesus wept?

A. Is Genesis the key to understanding (key to spiritual nourishment, maybe?), given to women? Genesis is the when/where/why, but the resolution is foreshadowed, never fully given in Genesis. And it's given to all mankind, not just women. But it is true that the promise of the Christ is given to Eve. And if that's not what your asking, honesty Honey, I have no idea what your real question might be.

A. It is indeed the shortest verse in the Bible. However when people use it today they are expressing total exasperation - they can't believe how stupid something someone has just said or done. It has the same meaning as 'heaven help us!'

Asked by angel babygirl - Wed Mar 3 17:23:29 2010 - Religion & Spirituality - 27 Answers - Comments

A. I would say it was not because Lazarus died. John 11:6 tells us that Jesus tarried two extra days where he was (beyond the Jordan) when he heard that Lazarus was sick. Notice in the verses following that no one had to tell Jesus that Lazarus died. Jesus knew this and he told his disciples, "Lazarus is dead, and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him." (v. 14-15) Also, when Jesus first got word that his friend was sick, he said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it." The passage does note that Jesus was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled when he saw Mary and the Jews with her weeping. (v.… [cont.]

A. This is a Wiki quote on "Jesus wept" : Weeping demonstrates that Christ was indeed true man, with real bodily functions (such as tears, sweat, blood, eating and drinking note, for comparison, the emphasis laid on Jesus' eating during the post-resurrection appearances). His emotions and reactions were real; Christ was not an illusion or spirit. I think maybe it was Frank comparing himself, even as he was pulled apart, to the Son of God.

Why does he weep in the famous line "Jesus wept. [John 11:35]"?
Q. He does right before the resurrection of Lazarus and I just don't buy that he weeps over the death of Lazarus. First death of flesh in Christianity is not exactly mournful to Jesus if Lazarus now walks with God. Plus he says dont worry Im going to resurrect him, then he weeps knowing he's going to resurrect him, then resurrects him. Why would he weep when he's going to resurrect him in a few seconds? Lynnmarie- Jesus weeping proves he is of flesh and does things of the flesh like cry. Doesn't mean he's not God. Plus an empathetic God does not mean an imperfect God. Empathy is in Love and God is Love which would make him more perfect. It does not disprove the Trinity. sorry the last addition is meant for huliendin You are saying God is… [cont.]

A. Red, I take it you have had a fortunate life and haven't walk into a room of your close friends when they just lost a family member, maybe a brother, or mother or father. But if you did, did you not feel the pain of people in the room? Didn't you hear their broken hearts speaking in the soft tones, and the redness of their eyes? I have the 'pleasure' of this, walking in just minutes as one of my friends had died after a 2 year fight with cancer. Her family was all around and we got there just a minute before her youngest daughter walked in the hospice room. Jesus knew death. You notice that he asked John to look after his mother Mary. Why? Because Joseph was dead, the man who raised him and taught him for the early part of his life. Since… [cont.]

A. Now that all depends on the congregation. Some churches have people in them that wouldn't dream of saying Amen, while others have a congregation that is very vocal and saying Amen is a very normal response to something the pastor says that they agree with.
